Gangs and Faith

This is the first blog posting for the PC M.A.S.C Faith and Gangs blog group. This blog is going to give you all insight on gangs, gang violence, gang tradition and how it all ties into faith. There are many different gangs, some are more violent than others but one thing they all have in common are that they all have certain rules and beliefs that they follow. Each gang believes in different things, what one gang may find correct, another may not, this is a main cause of gang violence. Faith and beliefs play a large role in the way a gang functions.

  2. So, I'm making a new comment because the first one isnt long enough. Like I said before, this should be interesting to learn about different gangs. Some stuff like, what the gang colors stand for. Also what is the meaning behind the name of the gangs. Another interesting aspect to learn about, is what certain actions gangs find acceptable and unacceptable.
By, educating ourselves about gangs we may understand why they do the things they do. To understand why that in most gangs in order to be initiated, some gangs require a one to three minute beating, a killing of any person/rival gang, committing a crime, or getting a tattoo of the gang's symbol. Some gangs have requirements as to religion and race, understanding the reason and how it ties into the gang itself would be interesting to learn about.

  3. I find that learning about gangs and violence is very interesting. It should be a learning experience while studying different gangs, requirements, rituals, customs, rules. Every gang is unique but with similar characteristics. This should be interesting.
